4th of the July

Happy 4th of July!

Last year I was living in Chicago all Summer with my good friend Callan. It was a great Summer and a great celebration of liberty. Leighton (the little brother), Jordan, and Jordan’s roommate all drove up to visit and enjoy the windy city during our nations birthday. We enjoyed the firework show and the drunk people down by the bay on a blanket amongst many other viewers. The fireworks were good, but what made it great was the people making and sharing in the experience. The best fireworks I’ve ever seen came later last Summer during Venetian night (the oldest Chicago tradition). They were exceptionally good because our vantage point allowed to also view the fireworks off of the wall of skyscrapers that make up the North edge of Millennium Park.

This year the roommates and I are having people over for an evening cookout and fireworks after. Hopefully the rain will clear away so we can see some night explosions. Where ever you are Callan, you are missed. You too John Schellhase.
